Every Dale Health weight loss program is individually designed to maximise the ability of our patients to lose weight and keep it off.

It’s not simply a diet to be followed for a designated period of time, only to be filed away once excess weight has been lost.

Each Dale Health Weight Loss program includes five key stages:

Initial Assessment

The direct cause of weight gain is relatively simple. It involves an energy imbalance between energy consumed by the body and energy burned.

Such an imbalance is the result of a complex interaction between many biological, behavioural, environmental and attitudinal factors that can vary significantly for each individual.

Understanding the causes of this imbalance is critical to the long-term success of our programs.

It is also important for us to understand any pre-existing medical conditions that our patients may have such that the safety of our programs, and ultimately the chances of success, can be maximised.

2. Exercise Programs

For many people, overweight or not, the thought of regular exercise can be a little daunting. Most have visions of sweat drenched sessions on the treadmill or monotonous and exhausting circuit training.

The difference at Dale Health is that our patients work with an Exercise Physiologist, not a personal trainer or gym instructor. This means that all exercise programs designed for our patients are totally safe and carefully matched to each patient’s physical capabilities.

We work with our patients to identify exercises that are enjoyable, safe, and boost body metabolism.

Constant monitoring ensures that our exercise programs always operate at maximum safety and optimum efficiency in relation to weight loss potential.

Ongoing Medical/Professional Support

Each patient works with a core treatment team that always consists of a GP, a Psychologist and an Exercise Physiologist, with access provided to a Dietician as necessary.

This reflects the Dale Health belief that successful weight management requires a comprehensive, psychological and medically based approach.

Whilst we find that many patients already understand the basic principles underpinning healthy eating and the importance of exercise, they often find it difficult to incorporate these into their lives in a sustainable way.

This means that whilst they might be able to lose some weight, invariably, they are unable to lose all the weight they require, or are unable to prevent weight regain after they have reached their goals.

The key to weight loss success is being able to make significant and sustained behavioural change. Psychologists are the specialists in behaviour change. As such, all of our patients work closely with our resident psychologist in a structured and systematic fashion to ensure that they have the motivation and skills necessary to sustain changed eating and exercise habits over the long term.

At Dale Health therefore, we offer comprehensive weight loss programs that emphasises the medical and psychological aspects of weight management, in addition to the exercise and nutrition components as standard. In doing so, we believe we are better equipped to help our patients deal with the psychological, physiological, metabolic and chemical changes associated with obesity and make the significant and sustained behaviour changes necessary for success.

The length of programs depends upon individual patient needs and can range from 12 weeks to upwards of 60 weeks.
