Irregular Routines: Don’t Let the Holidays Steal Your Focus

Christmas is approaching fast and how on earth are you going to fit in your usual commitments as well as find the time (and energy) for all those late night Christmas parties you have said yes to, the last minute Christmas shopping and of course, the joys of gift wrapping???
Your routine is one of your greatest weight management tools. A good routine will help you stay focused when you get busy, distracted or tired and take some of the thinking out of your diet, exercise and well-being choices. Christmas can throw even the most established routines out of whack, however, so here are a few tips to beat disruption and keep things on an even keel as the festivities pick up through December:
- To be on the ball you need to have adequate sleep. Between 8-10hrs per night will ensure a clear and focused mind, which will be able to conquer your busy days like a hero.
- Fuel your body with nutritious food and ensure that you are not skipping meals throughout your day. Regular and balanced energy intake will stave off ravenous hunger and lead to less of those convenient, but oh so high calorie food choices.
- Breakfast refuels the body, kick starts metabolism and improves energy levels, so find a way to make this a priority through the Christmas season.
Even though the lead up to Christmas can really test your usual routine, try as best as possible to get enough sleep, eat well and be physical active. With this in mind, what is one thing you can do differently this year to prioritise your health and routine through December?
